25 Years of Partnership, Impact and Indigenous Solutions

From our earliest kaupapa to today’s international projects, Kāhui Tautoko Consulting has always been driven by one purpose: to uplift Indigenous communities and support their tino rangatiratanga. Established in 2000 under the name gifted by the late Mate Kaiwai, we have worked alongside iwi, hapū, and Indigenous organisations to design solutions that are culturally grounded, effective, and enduring.

Over the years, our mahi has grown to span health, education, social development, corrections, and cultural exchange, connecting communities in Aotearoa with partners across Canada, the Pacific, and Hawai‘i. At the heart of it all are the people we serve – and the people who make up our whānau.

Our 25th Anniversary e-Magazine

Our commemorative e-magazine, Te Hononga, captures 25 years of stories, milestones, and voices from across Aotearoa, Canada, Hawai‘i and beyond. Inside you’ll find interviews, photo galleries, and reflections from past and present team members, clients, and partners.

25-Year Story Timeline

Our journey has been shaped by milestones that reflect our values and vision:

Conversation with our CEO

Our founder and CEO, [Mara Andrews – See Her Journey], has led Kāhui Tautoko from its first contract to an international network of Indigenous partnerships. Her philosophy is simple: listen deeply, work in partnership, and never lose sight of the kaupapa. In her own words, “Every project matters – because every project impacts lives.”

Looking ahead

As we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on the future – supporting communities until they no longer need us, influencing policy to remove systemic barriers, and sharing Indigenous solutions globally. Our vision is one where our people are thriving, connected, and in control of their own futures.
